How to Install Pull Up Bar on the Wall – Easy Guide
The two most basic types of the pull up bars that you can find on the market are the removable and the permanent ones. As their name suggests, the removable ones present a lightweight and an inexpensive solution for the people who’d like to skip all that drilling business. On the other hand, the permanent bars for a pull up are tougher to install, but if they’re placed correctly they will last longer and support more weight than their removable cousins. Check out this easy guide and learn how to do it yourself!
The first thing you’ll have to do is to determine where you want to install the device. Remember, there are different types of these permanent pull up bars today, and each type will require a unique set of hardware and brackets. This means that you’ll first have to figure out which one of these types do you want – in most of the cases, the necessary hardware will come together with the bar itself, but in some, it won’t.
The next thing to do is to measure the distance on the wall where you’ll need to install the brackets that will support the whole device. The easiest way to do this would be to take a pencil and just mark the locations of the future holes. This is where you will mount the brackets, and it needs to be done as securely as possible, whether your wall is made out of wood, concrete, or metal – if you don’t do this right, issues are sure to arise later.
Now it’s time for the drilling. Take the electric drill and make holes at the marked places, doing it slowly in order to avoid making holes that are bigger than needed, which would spoil the entire operation and force you to do it all over again. Depending on the type of wall that you’ll be drilling, select a proper bit and drill the holes so that they can properly accommodate the mounting bolts.
The next step would be the installation of the mounting bolts that you got in the package. If they’re of poor quality, we would recommend you to replace them with some proper ones, or you will almost certainly have problems with the stability later. Insert them into the holes, and then tighten them with an adjustable wrench. If the hardware pack that you got includes screws for these mounting brackets, take a driver and fasten them as securely as possible.
Fit your new fitness device into the newly installed brackets, and immediately test it out – first try pulling the bar down with your hands, and then try hanging from it in order to ensure that it will support your body’s weight.
